Hello, K3-K5 scholars and families! My name is Ms. Tanya Beck. I am excited to enter a new school year at the Catholic East Elementary team as an Education Assistant for grades K3 through K5. I have several passions; one is for education and learning, not only for self-growth, as well as to enlighten the minds of our young. My second passion is food and service. I enjoy scratch cooking and baking. I have a drive for service to provide knowledge and understanding to those whom I serve. I am up for the challenges and working with the scholars and staff at Catholic East Elementary.
My career began with Seton Catholic Schools at Catholic East in February of 2022. My prior background is in food service cooking, supervising, and managing. I also educated staff in different areas of food service, nutrition, and safety as well as managed daily department operations. After 25 years in food service, I made the decision to focus on following my passion. I learned a lot during the pandemic from helping my own children with school and navigating learning virtually. I wanted to be a part of the growth and education of our young growing scholars.
I work closely with the lead teachers in K3 (Mrs. Mueller), K4 (Mr. Landry), and K5 (Ms. West). I understand that all scholars are unique individuals; they all learn, process, and understand things differently. It is our job to ensure that we are able to reach all scholars in a manner that fits their unique learning styles.
I believe we as educators have to be good listeners to students and understand their needs for learning, thoughtfulness of the students’ own personalities and learning process, be personable and be able to engage the student in the learning process, and have adaptability for students to help them in their educational journey with the support needed to succeed. Being able to instill confidence in their students and continuously reassuring them confidence. Having learning for students that are goal-oriented learning for a growth mindset.
I am the oldest of four children, grew up in Milwaukee, and graduated from Madison High School. While in high school, I was involved in Forensics and Public Speaking. All four years of high school we made it to the State Level of Competitions. During high school, I took two years of German and two years of Spanish. In middle school, I was involved in Forensics and Debate and was awarded the top speaker award! For elementary school, I attended Our Lady of the Rosary Roman Catholic School, where I discovered and learned a lot of the Catholic foundations and morals that I teach today.
I have many years of education starting at UW-Milwaukee in Criminal Justice, followed by Milwaukee Area Technical College in Police Science, Culinary Arts, Food Service Management, and Dietetics. I am a Certified Dietary Manager, as well as Food Safety Certified and Serv-Safe Certified. I am currently working on Associate of Arts - Teacher Education through MATC. From there I will work to attain my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education.
I have five children, three of whom are current scholars at Catholic East Elementary in 7th, 1st, and K4. I have two nieces and two nephews. I enjoy having them over to spend time with their cousins. I also enjoy spending time with family, cooking and baking.
