Hi there! My name is Amber Kubiak. I am a 6th Grade home room teacher, and also teach 6th and 7th grade English at Catholic East. After growing up in northwest Indiana and attending Marian Catholic High School in Chicago Heights, IL, I attended the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee where I received my bachelors degree in Elementary Education with a minor in English Language Arts. One of the most rewarding things to come from my schooling journey was an exposure to diversity that allowed me to meet people of all different backgrounds, which in turn, taught me to accept and embrace my own diverse cultural background. Recognizing how I had been discouraged from celebrating my own cultures while attending school in my hometown ignited a fire in me to ensure that all students’ voices and perspectives are heard and respected, and to encourage students to celebrate every part of who they are. I hope I can bring a fresh perspective into the classroom and engage students in meaningful and impactful lessons throughout my courses.
On a more personal note, I am a big fan of hockey and soccer and try to attend sporting events as often as I can. I love concerts, traveling, painting and singing in my free time as well. I feel extremely blessed to be on this incredible team of staff and look forward to a safe and rewarding year of learning!
