Advent is Upon Us

Hello Families!

Advent is upon us; the entire third grade has finished creating a life-sized Advent calendar

and is up on the first floor outside Ms. Thurston's room! Scholars learned the proper way to write and read scripture.  We learned how to find scripture by looking for the book name, the chapter number, then the specific verse(s) to read. Each morning we will go out into the hall to have one of the scholars who created the illustration to the scripture they copied read it to us for a brief reflection. We have homework from Mrs. Dahlgren about scripture that is due next Tuesday, December 12th.  We will have a friendly competition about scripture between the two third grade classes.

Today we walked to Holy Rosary for Bishop Haines to lead mass this Holy Day of Opportunity, as he explained.  We learned there are many days where Mary is celebrated.  We learned that Mary was given a special grace from God, to be born without sin, so she would be able to be the vessel in which Jesus could enter our world. She said "Yes," to God's calling, without knowing what it would bring, but she had faith in God that He would always be with her.

Earlier this week we went to the Urban Ecoogy Center and enjoyed building structures wtih different properties. it was chilly, but sunny as the scholars were able to play in the woods and build larger structures with items found in nature.

There may be the first snow this weekend!  Enjoy it!
